Structure and Optically Induced Changes of Reactivity and Optical Properties of Amorphous Chalcogenides

  • Chapter
Properties and Applications of Amorphous Materials

Part of the book series: NATO Science Series ((NAII,volume 9))

Abstract

The exposure of amorphous and glassy materials, including many chalcogenides and some chalcogens, changes their structure, surface and physicochemical properties. The changes of optical transmittivity, reflectivity and index of refraction can be applied for construction of optical memories, holographic recordings, lenses, microlenses etc. The changes of reactivity can be applied for fabrication of photoresists of very high resolution, for fabrication of optical gratings and optoelectronic devices transparent in the infrared region etc.
