Abstract

The important position, which soil takes in the ecosystem and the importance of soil processes for the transformation of the substances in the environment provide the high demands to validation of soil parameters, which are used in modelling the environmental risk of chemicals. The advantages and disadvantages of some methods (empirical analogies, technological, geophysical, field experiments and laboratory physico-chemical imitation) of the measurement of soil parameters are examined. The examples of use of field and laboratory experiments for establishing soil parameters are discussed from the point of view of their validation and effectiveness for environmental prognosis.
