Abstract
Based on the three dimensional outer magnetosphere model of pulsars proposed by Cheng, Ruderman and Zhang, we calculate the light curves and spectra of the Crab-like pulsars: PSR B0540-69 and PSR B1509-58. The light curves of optical, X-rays and γ-rays for the Crab-like pulsars are expected to be the same origin, i.e. these high energy photons are produced in a finite region just above outer gaps through synchrotron self-Compton mechanism. For PSR B1509-58, if magnetic inclination and viewing angle are 65°and 75°, and the photon emission region has a mean thickness of ~ 0.1R L, where R L is the radius of the light cylinder, the expected broad single pulse can compare with the observed one and the model spectrum is consistent with observed spectrum. For PSR B0540-69, a broad single pulse and spectrum similar to the observed data can be produced if magnetic inclination and viewing angle are 50°and 66°respectively and the mean thickness of photon emission region is~0.04R L.
