Abstract

Outbreaks of diseases are common natural occurrences all over the world and public health authorities on all levels spend much time on the detection and investigation of such outbreaks. Most unusual disease outbreaks are of natural origin and will be confirmed as such, i.e. a natural, though unusual outbreak.
