Abstract
One of the prime motivations for the rapid development of photonic band gap structures was the promise of manipulating and engineering the photonic densities of states (DOS) [1 ,2] for new applications. By altering the photonic DOS, spontaneous emission can be modified opening up novel applications to optical physics.
