Abstract
We describe, in broad lines, the possible usefulness of the theory of conformal transformations of the metric tensor of a general-relativistic gravitating perfect fluid source in Relativistic Cosmology, and apply it as a method for determining the masses, their nature and their motions in the case of the large-scale cosmological structures. The possible implications of as trophysical interest of this method are briefly described.

The details of most of the results reported in the first two sections of this article can be found in the reference K. Kleidis and N.K. Spyrou, Classical and Quantum Gravity, 17 (2000) 2965–2982; the rest of the results, which are reported here for the first time, constitute an ongoing effort to give a preliminary answer to some basic cosmological questions posed more than thirty years ago by many authors as eg. in the classical book H.P.Robertson & T.W.Noonan, Relativity and Cosmology, W.B.Saunders Company, Philadelphia, 1968.
