Effect of Aminoguanidine on Induced-diabetic Rabbits and Diabetic Patients with ESRD
Perturbation in blood rheology are thought to contribute to the genesis of progressive micro- and macrovascular complications in diabetes mellitus . Specifically, hyper-viscosity of whole blood and plasma, and reduced RBC deformability (RBC-df), have been linked to the pathogenesis and progression of overt nephropathy in diabetic persons ,. In a previous study we reported a highly significant correlation between RBC-df impairment and the loss of renal function in diabetic subjects.
