Abstract

In this short overview some molecular crystals and host-guest supramolecular structures containing short linear molecules and polymers are described. Motion and dynamic disorder of the molecules cannot be considered as defects but an important feature of the structure, since space filling is obtained by fast diffusional motions of a large fraction of the molecules. The entropy content increases accordingly, and stabilizes the system. Solid state NMR results will be mainly reported, the method being sensitive to the typical regime of motions in the materials.
