Abstract

We present a theoretical study of liquid crystal colloidal dispersions. Micron sized particles that can be either charged or neutral are dispersed in a liquid crystal at temperatures below as well as above the nematic-isotropic phase transition. We describe all the relevant interactions and show how to choose the parameters determining these interactions in order to make the system dispersed or flocculated.
