Abstract

The Slovak Republic belongs to relatively well developed countries when comparing the group of states with economy in transition. Taking into account the data from the Statistical Yearbook of the Slovak Republic in 1999, the figures of Gross Domestic Product per capita in 1997 in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovenia were represented by 3 488, 4 621, 4 135, 3 268 and 8 633 USD, respectively. Trends in the GDP development in this region is shown in Table 1:
