Nonlinear Behavior of Superconducting Devices

  • Chapter
Microwave Superconductivity

Part of the book series: NATO Science Series ((NSSE,volume 375))

Abstract

Nonlinear effects in superconducting devices are an important limitation to applications of these devices. The phenomenology of the nonlinear behavior is presented. Methods of measurements and models of power dependence, intermodulation distortion, and harmonic generation are discussed. Currently, microscopic models do not explain all of the measurements. Measuring and modeling of the microwave properties of grain boundaries and grain-boundary Josephson junctions also are presented.
