Abstract
Fauna of the region numbers 172 species of animals, 496 species of birds, 86 species of reptiles, 11 species of amphibians, 150 species of fishes and 10,000 species of invertebrates (Babaev & Kharin, 1994 b). In the process of land degradation, wildlife is changed. People exterminate animals directly by shooting, other animals perish because of destruction of their habitats. Development of new lands, cutting vegetation and direct human pressure also lead to the change of wildlife. Conservation of vegetation will stimulate conservation of habitat (Figure 7.1).
