Abstract
Research on “super-metal-rich” stars (with [Fe/H] > 4-0.2 dex) is reviewed. There is good evidence for the existence of SMR dwarfs and subgiants. Despite conclusions drawn in the literature, however, it is not known whether μ Leo or any other class III star is SMR. In addition, the possible SMR status of the galactic cluster NGC 6791 has not been established. In large part, these uncertainties are due to inadequate research strategy, inadequate control of data quality, extensive reliance on unsupported axioms, and rejection of statistical analysis.
