pH Dependence of the Au-CN Species Adsorbed onto Activated Carbon

Adsorption from aqueous solution of KAu(CN)2 onto activated carbon at low pH is shown to produce a mixture of Au(CN) 2 and AuCN. The relative concentrations can be altered by aging, drying and heating and are reversible to some extent. The bonding strength also alters considerably during these changes.
