Abstract
Numerical methods are used to compute the flow rate, induced pressure, current and efficiency of electrokinetic pumps under the conditions of maximum work. We show that the efficiencies are generally quite low and that optimum conditions for maximum efficiency and maximum work are strongly dependent on the normalized zeta potential.
