Abstract
We have developed a novel microfluidic device of multiple reactor array that enables quantitative multistep reactions with droplet coalescence. This device consists of three-dimensional microchannel networks fabricated with PDMS, in which nanoliter-sized droplets can be accurately metered and mixed using hydrophobic passive valves and pneumatic pressure. Using this device, single reagent injection is enough to prepare multiple aliquots with precise volume for multiple different reactions or different analyses reducing the influence of evaporation. This type of microarray is applicable for the series of multiple analyses such as clinical blood tests, drug screening or gene discovery.
