Abstract

This book is about energy, special kind of energy--electricity. Electricity is easily generated, easily transported, and easily used and applied in the ordinary households and diverse industries of the world. Its ease of use has made access to electricity grow faster worldwide than the world’s population, although one-third is still without a secure supply. Today, most electricity is generated by burning fossil fuelscoal, oil and natural gas--a fact that has raised problems of pollution, but once generated, electricity is clean and nonpolluting.
