Abstract
The interband magneto-emission is studied for semiconductor quantum wells containing a high concentration two-dimensional electron system. In first approximation, the field dependence of the transition energies fits with the “fan-diagram” of transitions between conduction band and valence band Landau levels. However, excitonic interactions and electron electron exchange interactions produce marked deviations from linear field dependence. This article presents a method for separating the two types of correction from each other, by measuring splittings between allowed (diagonal) and forbidden (non-diagonal) recombination transitions. Data for modulation-doped CdTe and CdMnTe quantum wells are compared to the first-order theory of the filling factor dependence of the interactions.
