Abstract
The history of olefin metathesis dates back to over 50 years ago with the advent of Ziegler-Natta transition metal catalysts for olefin polymerization.1 In turn, it has developed into a useful modern synthetic tool of specialty polymers, fine chemicals, natural products which continues to be developed for several other applications. As shown in Figure 1, olefin metathesis is an equilibrium process in which there is the exchange of carbon moieties between a pair of double bonds in two alkene molecules (Figure 1).
