Abstract
Plant about 50 cm high (sometimes up to 1 m), spike of may pink flowers, 1–2 cm across, corolla tube 1.5-2 cm long, bent at or just above halfway (two-thirds up in East Africa), bracts below each flower 2–3 mm wide, fringed with hairs. Parasitic on cereal crops in Africa and Arabia.
