Abstract
Mucoceles and pyoceles are the most frequent cause of unilateral exophthalmos in Japan. They can be diagnosed usually with X-ray examinations. However, disorders of the orbital contents cannot possibly be visualized with these methods. They do not reveal the cystic characteristics of mucopyoceles.
