Abstract

The application of fixed frequency IR lasers for pollution monitoring and process control is discussed and demonstrated. Field measurements of HF emission from an aluminum plant by means of a cw chemical HF laser are reported. In addition ambient air measurements of water vapour distribution in the vicinity of a cooling tower as well as range resolved measurements of the ethylene concentration over a refinery have been performed using a pulsed TEA CO2 laser in connection with the differential absorption technique.
