Abstract

The need for effective techniques to monitor various constituents of the atmosphere has become obvious in recent years. In all industrial regions effective control of quite different pollution situations is necessary. In addition the global distribution of many pollutants has become a problem the severity of which possibly is still not realized everywhere. The long range transport of trace constituents requires detailed study — the transportation of sulfur dioxide from the centre of Europe to Scandinavia is only one of numerous examples.
