Abstract
It is possible to save much space in the publication of lengthy research articles by conventionally printing only a synopsis of the article and reproducing all further information in miniprint or on microfiche. An early enquiry provided indications about what parts of the article need not be traditionally reproduced. Authors’ attitudes play a major role in deciding what can be put into practice. An experimental publication, containing a research report in the synopsis plus miniprint mode is being used as a basis for exploring what is both practically feasible and acceptable.
