Abstract

The specific requirements for preparing the reference manual are briefly presented. Some of its features are discussed: the manual is fairly detailed (70 pages) and is intended “for reference”; for “quick reference”, there are an “Author’s Short Guide” and a “Typist’s Short Guide” (4 pages each); the chapters are self-contained treating specific tasks (writing, typing, correcting, printing, distributing); entries in the detailed subject index refer directly to (numbered) paragraphs to facilitate quick finding; specific instructions are presented clearly and concisely (e.g. sample references to all kind of literature, sample pages for the typist, checklists for authors and typists).
