Abstract
The orbit is based on only one measured function, namely the radial velocity V of a star (relative to the sun) at different times. Call γ the radial velocity of the mass center of the binary (a constant unless a third body is involved), and ż= dz/dt the radial part of the orbital velocity of the observed component relative to the mass center:
