Abstract
In the following brief, quite modest reflection, I try to come to an understanding of one of Hans Jonas’ most fascinating and important discussions. I will also give it the respect and merit it is manifestly due — long overdue, it seems to me — by confronting it philosophically: i.e., critically.
Between us and heaven or hell there is only life, which is the frailest thing in the world.
