Abstract
This chapter is based on 6 years’ experience in the Regional Poisoning Treatment Centre, Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh. The natural history and intensive therapy of salicylate poisoning vary considerably from the infant or child to the adult. Since this book is concerned with intensive therapy of adult patients only, acute salicylate poisoning in the young is omitted, and the reader referred to the monograph by Matthew and Lawson (1975).
