Relationship between IOP Level and Visual Field in Open Angle Glaucoma (Study for Critical Pressure in Glaucoma)

Abstract

Measurements of the visual sensitivity at various IOP levels in primary open angle glaucoma by using diurnal variation of IOP were carried out.

The visual sensitivity was examined at 5 points including central fixation point by using white and white flickering light spot with Tübinger static perimetry.

A decrease of visual sensitivity was observed following an increase of IOP.

It was possible to estimate the critical in the ocular pressure (Pc), which produces a damage of visual function in each case, from the relationship between IOP level and visual sensitivity.

The numerical values of estimated Pc with this method were similar to those of other methods.
