Nuclear Magnetic Resonance for Rare Earth Complexes: Theory

  • Conference paper
Organometallics of the f-Elements

Part of the book series: NATO Advanced Study Institutes Series ((ASIC,volume 44))

Abstract

This chapter will deal with the theory of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) of ligand nuclei in lanthanide complexes. The theories will also be applicable to actinide complexes, but in the actinide complexes the larger crystal fields, the possibly larger covalent interactions and the greater importance of relativistic effects will make the theories more approximate.
