Abstract
The discussion of the reactions of monoolefins will be divided according to the type of product obtained. This will in turn be determined to a large extent by the solvent used. Thus carbonyl compounds are formed in aqueous and mixed aqueous solvents (Section B), while acetate esters are formed in acetic acid (Section C). This is not always true, as the formation of carbon-carbon bonds does not depend greatly on solvent.
