Abstract

Over six years have elapsed since clusters of galaxies were first established as a class of X-ray sources. This review shall be concerned with describing the developments that have been made in the intervening years, with particular emphasis being given to a discussion of current ideas and problems. In view of the great capabilities of the HEAO-B satellite, soon to be launched, this would appear to be a most appropriate time to take stock of the situation.
