Neutron Scattering and Lattice Dynamics of Materials with Layered Structures

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Physics and Chemistry of Materials with Layered Structures ((PCMA,volume 3))

Abstract

There are numerous textbooks and review articles [1–3] on lattice dynamics, and, in particular, the microscopic approach to the theory of lattice dynamics has been a subject of considerable activity in recent years [4–6]. Here a brief summary of fundamental equations for the more conventional Born-von Kármán formalism is presented in order to define notations that will be used later.
