Abstract
Since I am very much in agreement with Professor Taylor about his general understanding of the importance of Hegel, and the importance of Hegel’s conception of Sittlichkeit generally, I have decided to limit my remarks to the second part of his paper. This part attempts to understand the crisis of the modern democratic liberal bourgeois world in terms of the break-up of a traditional Sittlichkeit in Western societies. Here I am not in complete agreement.
