Abstract
M-mode echocardiography is useful for the detection of a variety of rightsided heart abnormalities (1). Only recently has two-dimensional echocardiography been used for this purpose. Two dimensional echocardiography is generally superior to M-mode for this purpose because its wide field of view results in easy spatial recognition of right-sided structures such as right atrium, coronary sinus, all three leaflets of the tricuspid valve, right ventricle, pulmonic valve leaflets and proximal pulmonary artery with its bifurcation. This report discusses the echocardiographic approaches to the examination of right-sided cardiac structures.
