Abstract

One of the major complications associated with mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is mitral regurgitation (MR) (1–3). However, confirmation of MR and accurate assessment of its severity both require left ventricular angiography, a procedure that is not performed in the majority of patients with MVP; hence, the true prevalence and distribution of severity of MR in a group of unselected patients with MVP is unclear.
