Shallow Lakes Contributions to their Limnology

Part of the book series: Developments in Hydrobiology ((DIHY,volume 3))

Abstract

Physico-chemical aspects of shallow alkaline ponds (about 75) were studied for four years in the Pannonian plain in Yugoslavia. The paper describes results on the seasonal variations of their salinity, major ion composition, their chemical types, expressed as the percentage of equivalent sum of total cations or anions, their geographical distribution, as well as their similarity to the ionic composition of lakes and ponds in the Hungarian and Austrian part of the Pannonian plain.
