Abstract
I have tried in this book to assemble some outstanding features of the scene of Mesopotamia, a name coined by the ancient Greeks and still ecologically sound. I am aware of the fragmentary nature of this presentation; an enormous literature exists on the past of this land but not comprehensive for the natural history of the present. I enclose here a summary of the main points of the interdisciplinary approach.
