Abstract
Development Assistance Projects for the poor within the traditional rural community — a large part but by no means all of the rural poor — nearly always are interventions from outside the local community. Ideally they are aimed at triggering off a self-sustaining social economic and technical development of and within that community that is congruent with the overall development of the country, which in most cases is heavily dependent upon and conform with the so called modern life pattern and its advocates.
