Abstract

A comprehensive research program dealing with the environmental and societal impacts of increasing atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide is being developed by the U. S. Department of Energy. The program, when fully realized, will be a cooperative effort with other U. S. agencies, such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Science Foundation, with the U. S. National Climate Program Office and with a variety of other national and international organizations.
