Enthalpy, Free-Energy, and Entropy Data for Structure-Activity Relationships in Acids and Bases

Abstract

Linear-free energy relationships such as the Hammett equation are based upon electronic inductive effects of substituents on a basic site. Simple empirical equations produce calculated values for equilibrium constants which are in satisfactory agreement with the experimental data and which have a useful predicting power for other compounds.
