Abstract

The progesterone-releasing IUD has a beneficial effect on the amount of menstrual flow, on dysmenorrheal pain and on premenstrual cramp. We were interested in studying the effects of a progesterone-releasing IUD in a particular group of women. These women were complaining of the following side effects at least three months after the insertion of a copper IUD:

  • increased menstrual flow

  • irregular bleeding patterns

  • dysmenorrhea

  • headache
