Abstract

As the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is the successor to the Organization for European Economic Cooperation (OEEC), we should study the latter as a preliminary to any discussion of the former.

Without doubt the trade liberalization programme of the Organization for European Economic Cooperation contributed effectively to the revival of intra-European trade. With its European Payments Union arrangements, it still stands out as one of the more solid achievements in the efforts towards Western European integration.
