Abstract
Testicular biopsy is a simple, safe procedure, which can frequently provide the clinician with valuable information otherwise unobtainable. Much debate has occurred relative to the merits of testicular biopsy. However, when applied with the proper indications, it is a valuable, if not indispensable diagnostic tool. Empiric testicular biopsy is to be avoided. Testicular biopsy is only a part of the entire workup of the patient, hence to achieve the fullest benefit from the procedure it must be performed in conjunction with other studies (e.g. gonadotrophins and Karyotyping) employed in the investigation of the subfertile, hypogonadic, or intersexual patient.
