Since people very rarely live in isolation, the value of individual freedom must find its place in a social setting. The maximization, or even the protection, of positive personal freedom quickly becomes a political issue. So it is necessary, in continuing the analysis, to shift from the purely individual perspective and consider positive liberty as a social and political ideal.
