Abstract

Most of the migratory farm workers leave their homes and travel northwards in order to earn money (although some do this for other reasons; see page 37). Advertisements in the workers’ home towns, in the newspapers, and on the radio promise them work, and they hear rumors about making good money harvesting up North.
