Abstract
The interaction of energy, the environment, and the economy is a subject of great interest to the Netherlands, whose own position in each of these three areas has been especially privileged during the last ten to fifteen years. However, the continued existence of the current comparatively favorable situation is not taken for granted. Dutch energy policy is being carefully planned on the basis of intensive national and international research and the evaluation of numerous significant trends and factors.
