Abstract
The early detection of visual loss has long been a major goal in perimetry. Shallow scotomata of small diameter can only be detected by high resolution measurements combined with appropriate attenuation of the threshold fluctuations. Detectability of such scotomata by different Octopus programs, varying in these two basic strategies, is shown.
