Climatic Impacts on Agriculture, Water Resources and Economy

Climatic Variations and Variability: Facts and Theories

Part of the book series: NATO Advanced Study Institutes Series ((ASIC,volume 72))

Abstract

Different climatic conditions and meteorological factors cause the vegetation to react in a complex manner. The connections between weather and agricultural productivity are studied through the use of crop-weather analysis models, while other models allow us to correlate the annual variations of agricultural production with the climatic variability of seasonal sequences. An historical analysis concerning the economic impact of climatic variability will help us to choose the most suitable lines of research in order to establish reliable criterion as regards the consequences of eventual climatic variations on agriculture in the near future.
