Abstract
Recent observational results obtained from the ground and with instruments on board of satellites are presented. Particular emphasis is given to the photometric observations carried out at Catania Observatory. A brief outline of the models, which have been proposed to interpret the RS CVn star variability, and of the numerous still unresolved problems deserving future observational and theoretical efforts follows. The importance of studying the intrinsic variability of RS CVn stars, in the contest of stellar activity, is stressed.
